Tidy Tip: Cleaning the Microwave

I always say you can tell how clean someones house is by looking in their microwave!

So this is my favorite trick for cleaning the microwave, I know there are tons of products you can use but I don't like the idea of those chemicals being so close to my food so here is what I do:

I take a wash cloth and dampen it- ringing out as much water as possible.
Then I put it in the microwave for 45-60seconds
The steam coming off of the wash cloth loosens the dirt in the microwave.
Then I use the damp steaming cloth to wipe down all the microwave surfaces.
Finally I have a sparkling clean microwave in less than 2mins, with no effort!

Foodie Friday: My best cooking tips

I like to cook, I do not do it enough because it's just me but when I have someone coming over for dinner I go all out!


Here are a few of my best tips:
1. Do not wash your mushrooms under running water- it will make them taste like water, pointless! Instead use a damp cloth to wipe off any dirt.
2. Use Extra Large Eggs when baking- I don't know why, but it makes a huge difference- trust me!
3. Salt your Pasta Water with SeaSalt- less sodium than table salt with a lot more flavor.
4. If you buy cheap cuts of meat to save money- cook them in a slow cooker, it will make them taste like you spent a lot of money on it.
5.When Roasting anything in the oven, make sure the pan is not too big-otherwise you will burn the veggies or the meat.

Saving money on gas and more

I know gas prices are  different  all across the US, it is $3.69 a gallon here in Upstate NY right now.
There are two easy things you can do to keep your car as fuel efficient as possible- if you drive a tank, there is no help for you! Just kidding of course!

First: Make sure your tires are fully inflated, I don't know why but it helps a lot.
Second: Make sure you get your oil changed when it is due, and if your car has over 50k miles on it make sure you get high mileage oil.

On a side note, my dad sent me an email about how when you use your credit or debit card at the gas pump make sure that you hit clear when you are finished pumping gas. This way the next person who pumps or the people working at the store will not be able to use your credit card for anything. It is amazing the things people will do for money!
