Foodie Friday: My best cooking tips

I like to cook, I do not do it enough because it's just me but when I have someone coming over for dinner I go all out!

Here are a few of my best tips:
1. Do not wash your mushrooms under running water- it will make them taste like water, pointless! Instead use a damp cloth to wipe off any dirt.
2. Use Extra Large Eggs when baking- I don't know why, but it makes a huge difference- trust me!
3. Salt your Pasta Water with SeaSalt- less sodium than table salt with a lot more flavor.
4. If you buy cheap cuts of meat to save money- cook them in a slow cooker, it will make them taste like you spent a lot of money on it.
5.When Roasting anything in the oven, make sure the pan is not too big-otherwise you will burn the veggies or the meat.

Anyone have any other tips? I will pick a comment using random.org and give that person a $5 amazon.com gift code!

  1. Shamrock Snack

When your little leprechauns get hungry, give them this healthy treat. Luckily, it delivers plenty of vitamins A and C.

Not a cooking tip but a fun way to kids to eat some veggies this St. Patty's Day!

Remove the seeds from a long, thin sweet pepper and slice into several rings.Slice a few of the rings into smaller pieces for stems.Arrange shamrocks on a plate with dressing.

  2. Add a pinch of salt to the water when boiling eggs. It will keep the shells from cracking.

  3. I may be the only one who didn't know this but I hate the membrane/skin left when I cut up citrus fruit...but if you cut away the skin and membrane and then cut between the membranes you get PERFECT pieces of citrus fruit! They just slide right out...made my day : )
