Manic Monday

 *Not my cabinets

I spent this weekend organizing my Kitchen Cabinets- so I thought for Manic Monday we would talk about why this is important.

As you know I am currently "Eating what I have on hand" doing this is made slightly easier by knowing exactly what I have in my cabinets. I was able to go through all of the cabinets and organize the items by category and where I think they should be located to make my life that much easier.

I am not saying that organizing cabinets is easy or fun, but in the end they are great to look at. Also after the 3rd spice jar that expired in 2009 that you throw alway, you'll be happy you did it!

Manic Monday

How is it Monday already!

The focus of every Manic Monday is how to organize your life. So this week, I thought we would talk about calendars.

For many people calendars are a thing of the past... people use the calendar on their phone if anything at all. I think that is fine, because that's what I do. But I am also single.

A family calendar is a great way to help organize the whole family. It can be useful to keep everyones weekly schedule. You can also put in things such as family dinner, doctors appointments and more. This way everyone knows where they need to be. Keeping this Calendar on the counter, or somewhere everyone can see is a great way to stay organized and make sure everyone is where they need to be.

Manic Monday

Seems like last Monday was forever ago, but last time we talked about organizing your desk. In a sad turn of events mine needs a little work. :) I have a few coupons to organize and some receipts to take pictures of to post for Thrifty Thursday!

So since we are on the topic of Organizing coupons-lets go with that for this week. I do not get the Sunday paper, and I know I should. Because sometimes I will see a great deal but I'm missing out because of the coupon. But at the same time there are tons of coupons online as well. I only print them if they are for a product I use or something I know I will get an excellent deal on.

Once I have the coupons printed that I want, I stick them in an envelope and write on the outside exactly what coupons I have, what they are good for and how much I save with them. Once I use them I cross it off the list. This is also handy because it is always in my purse, if I see a good deal on something I have a coupon for I can just grab it.

Other coupon organizing styles are:
the binder-where each coupon has a space in the binder and it is organized by category (this takes a ton of time and is for heavy duty couponers
The file system-where you file coupons by category in a small box such as a recipe box.( This is handy but you do not carry your box around so you can miss out on deals while out shopping).

Manic Monday

This is going to be another weekly post. Manic Mondays will focus on ways to organize your home, your time and so much more!

This week the focus is on organizing your desk-either home or at work. An organized desk helps to relax you, so you do not stress over what needs to get done or what is missing.

A few simple and helpful tips:
Buy open stackable storage units for under the desk- see through mesh ones work great for me. In them keep items you do not use daily or even weekly. Such as extra paper, books, computer accessories.

For the top of your desk have more mesh organizing units-to hold papers, bills ect. Have one that stands up and has a few slots. This way each slot can have its own purpose (bills, to-do, to file ect)

Also always keep a notebook and a pen on the desk- makes it easy to write down ideas, to do lists and more. Once you take care of an item on the list-cross it off and move on.

By taking a few minutes and organizing your desk once, you will be able to keep up with the organization because everything will not have its own spot.
