Eating what is on hand for the next week: Day 4
So I think instead of going to the grocery store and buying new groceries, for the next week I am going to see what kind of meals I can come up with from the food that I already have in the house.
This has nothing to do with saving money, but of course that doesn't hurt either.
There was a reason I bought the food I have on hand in the first place, so the goal is to use some of it up and make room for new things. I am also going to see how many recipes I can try or make up for myself!
Day 4:
Well today I was home most of the day- just worked a few hours at night
I had a yogurt for breakfast
Finished off the pasta/cheese/hot sauce for lunch
Had some sweet potato souffle for dinner
And I am currently eating some apple crisp
Tomorrow I plan on actually cooking... looking forward to seeing what I can come up with from what is on hand. I know that for sure I am making chicken breaded in crushed up savory crackers!
You can see the other days here!

Walmart Coupon Policy Update
I have been avoiding WalMart at all costs for a long time now, because using a coupon there was like a terrible thing to all of the cashiers- ironically enough when the store is based on the principle of saving money, but I digress....
So here it is the new:
Walmart Coupon Policy
Walmart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):
- Manufacturers’ coupons
- Print-at-home internet coupons
- Must be legible, have “Manufacturer Coupon” printed on them, have a valid remit address for the manufacturer, valid expiration date, and have a scannable bar code.
- Competitors’ coupons that feature a specific item for a specified price
- for example, $2.99
- Soft drink container caps
- Checkout coupons
- (also called “Catalinas”) that are printed at our competitors’ registers, have “Manufacturer Coupon” with specific requirements printed on them, a valid remit address for the manufacturer, valid expiration date, and a scannable bar code.
- Print-at-home Internet coupons that require no purchase
- Competitors’ coupons for dollars/cents or percentage off, buy one get one free, and double- or triple-value coupons
- Only one coupon per item is permitted.
- Coupons must have an expiration date and be redeemed prior to expiration.
- Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.
- Walmart only accepts coupons for merchandise that we sell.
- Coupons must be presented at the time of purchase.
- We accept the following with Customer Service Supervisor/Management approval:
- 40 or more coupons
- Any coupon over $20
- $50 or more in coupons in one transaction
Thanks Mojo for the write up

Day 3:
I worked from 10-3 today so I was able to eat lunch at work
I didn't eat breakfast
Once again I had pasta with shredded cheese and hot sauce
Sweet potato souffle
and I made an apple crisp which I will be eating some of in a little bit
*Just a quick note I'm trying to use up stuff I have had around for a while, the only things that have been bought in the past 2 weeks in yogurt. The apples for the apple crisp I bought a month ago!

Totsy
Have you heard of Totsy? It is an adorable online store full of kid stuff: shoes, toes, blankets, books and more! The deals only run for a day or two and then they are gone.
Right now they are having a $15 off a $15 purchase sale... and you can use that $15 towards shipping.
Coupon Code: 15CREDIT
Britax Carseats
If you have been looking for a carseat, check out Amazon- they have Britax carseats on sale for around 20% off plus free shipping! This is a great sale on Britax- and I happen to think that safety ratings should be put above cost when it comes to carseats, but at 20% off you can get safety and a good price

Before buying anything online make sure you stop by here to see if there are any coupon codes you can use to grab a better deal.

Search Amazon.com for groceries

Day 2:
Once again I worked 8-5:30 and I can eat their food while I'm working (I'm a nanny)
For dinner though I am home so I am making some pasta and throwing some shredded cheese on top
Some canned corn
Probably some oreos later
Tomorrow should be more interesting because I will most likely be eating all of my meals at home!
*I will be buying milk-but that does not count, neither does free items I get at Rite Aid/Target.

Travel Tip Thursday
This weeks travel tip, is pretty clever if I do say so myself!
Basically you pick out an outfit for everyday you are on vacation and fold each days clothes and put them into a zip lock bag. This way the clean clothes do not get mixed in with the dirty clothes, and you can easily grab the bag in the morning and not have to search through a suitcase for a shirt, pants and socks.
I think this tip is especially practical when traveling with children, they can pick out which bag of clothes they want to wear each day, and you will know they are going to match and everything they need is in the bag!
